Woorrrrkkkk's out for Christmas!

(What tune is that sung to? *hint* don't think Christmas songs...)

I am THRILLED to have some time off, as I'm sure all of you are!

Last night, I had a Scott come home a liiiitttle earlier than originally thought which was great! :D Not only was it great to see him, but I needed his help...for the last big baking fest day. We were both exhausted in the end, but we won~!
And I think I even took some pictures for you! (I need to check to be sure...........sure did!)
Alright, so I'll start by saying...traffic was obscene. I hope it's not like that again tonight, but I won't get my hopes too high.
As soon as I got home (after feeding and changing George's water out), I jumped right into forming and baking the cookie dough I made yesterday. It was another one of Sally's recipes....Soft Gingersnap Molasses Cookies. And they turned out great :3 (if you're into spicey, festive type cookies). They're so soft and little and tasty!

I think they're cute~! :)

Just as I finished up making these little morsels, was about when Scott got home! So at first, Scott got started on his laundry and putting stuff away while I started the next project!
I will say, I wasn't as impressed with this one...I found the recipe off Pinterest actually.
Barbecue Snack Mix. It was basically just alright to me. I'm more into cheesey, spicey, or salt and vinegary flavored snacks as opposed to a sweeter BBQ-y taste.

George even managed to get a hold of some and got to gobble a bit up before I noticed, dramatically cried out - NOOOOOO!, and banished him to a closed room.

While the snack mix was cooking (took about an hour and a half for us), I got started on more of a sweet snack mix :D Now this one was SUPER easy and another Pinterest find.
Christmas White Trash. Very simple, and a fairly decent treat I think? Only difference is, I used regular pretzel twists as I didn't have festive ones. I think people will be able to deal with that ;).

Looks festive enough with the M & M's ;).

And then I had just ONE more project - to correct what had gone wrong the previous day. Another one of Sally's recipes...Cinnamon Sugar Candied Nuts.
I was so sad  yesterday...I followed the recipe basically to a T, but I tried to cook 2 pans at the same time (with only one rack in my oven...it was a little too cozy) and my oven runs about 20 degrees hot I believe. The result was very burnt nuts after only about 20 minutes. So I was determined to make them, and make them I did! I turned down the oven and cooked each pan separately... thus resulting in quite delicious, and not burnt, sweet and cinnamony nuts! SUCCESS!

Don't they look delightful and not burnt?? :3
So thank you Scott for your help last night, Sally for your help and also delicious recipes, and to all you for following me on my Christmas baking adventures this week :)!

I'm a very tired duck today...but at least everything is done!

I know I've already written quite a bit with a few pictures, but just a few other things to share today!

1. My workout this morning, I did a Brazil Butt Lift video called 'High and Tight'...good workout with a band around your feet/legs for half and ankle weights for the other half. George sat STARING at me for the ENTIRE thing. 40 minutes of cat (especially George) stares are NOT normal. He's very easily distracted...it was weirding me out....

Stop looking at me swan! (You know what it's from...)

2. Usually, I'll leave my hair down for work...I don't know why, I just prefer it I guess. Today I look like this...

EVERY ONE has made some sort of comment. Yes I realize it's a little off kilter...but what's the big deal?!
Trudy, nice hair... (sarcasm?)
What's with the hair?
You look like a crazy person?
Why is your hair up?

I don't know, ok? I felt like it.

3. Christmas is almost here :D

December the 21st! 4 days until Christmas :)! Do I travel on the holidays? Well...I assume this is meaning major traveling, like flying somewhere for a vacation type deal. If that's the case, then no...I've never traveled far/gone on vacation for Christmas, but I would NOT be opposed to that at all!
But I do some traveling, yes. It's a 2.5 hour drive down to visit my family, which is happening tomorrow late morningish. Christmas day, after opening gifts with my parents, we'll be heading back to Calgary, stopping at our place quick, and then driving another 2.5 hoursish to Scott's parents. It will be A LONG day...but the nice thing is that Scott and I are taking turns; I'm driving to my parents and he to his. :)

Do you do any major traveling on the holidays? How about minor?

12 Days of Christmas!
On the 9th day of Christmas a Trudy gave to you, 9 seasons of Seinfeld, 8 mint hot cocoas, 7(+) songs for singing, 6 lengthy foot rubs, 5 boooxess of Goddiiiivvaaaaa, 4 festive movies, 3 pomegranates, 2 pairs of sweatpants, and a fuzzy kitten named Georgey! :)

I'm not obsessed with Seinfeld or anything...but I do find the show to be funny. Just recently, I've watched all 9 seasons (for my first time) all the way through and I enjoyed them :D! I like the dry, nothingness of it all.

Do you watch Seinfeld? Enjoy it at all?

And that's it for today! Safe travel wishes to all of you if doing so!

Ciao for meow :)!

PS. Special shout out to a few people. All my family, looking forward to seeing you soon! Nani, see ya tomorrow! W and the giant, see you Sunday! Lambie and hubs, safe travels to you - have fun in Ontario! And Caitlin..have fun with the boy :D

PPS. If you haven't see it yet, I announced the winners for the giveaway! So if you entered and haven't checked it out... do so now!

I have mixed feelings about this song. I enjoy the Jackson's...I think this is a cute song...but I just really hate the beginning. "WOW! Mommy's kissing Santa Clause!" It annoys me -.- What do you think?

We have some weiners!

And/or winners. Basically the same thing.

So! If you didn't know about it, I did a 12/12/12 giveaway...and the results are in!

Are you excited?

To be honest, I was fairly surprised with the results.  I won't say anymore but I'll let you see for yourself and be surprised! Thanks to everyone for your participation and entries, it was really fun :)!

So I put all this disaster together....

There are some high tech draw's going on right there!

I promise to you, I didn't rig anything. (Believe me if you wish).

First, we had the Benefit mini scent sampler...

Ruth*! You were bound to win, you're the only one that wanted it apparently!

Second, the Bath & Body work set of Trudy's faves ;) (Including candle and soap)...

There were QUITE a few entries here...but Nani pulled through! Good thing you entered near the end! :)

Third, Paul Mitchell Shampoo and Conditioner had a few entries...

But Ruth came through, again!

Fourth, Sephora Philosophy Sparkle and Joy set with body washes and lipgloss...

Ruth again?? What kind of crazy luck do you have?!

Fifth, Love Spell Lotion by Victoria's Secret....

A new contender pulls in...Janette*! (I call her Ned...)

Sixth, Corioliss Brilliant Gloss Mist...

Ned again?? Like I said, I shook all the little piles very well! It was all luck and chance!

And the last 2 things...something almost everyone wanted...the sweet sweet chocolate.

First we have Ferrero Rocher...

And here we have Nani again! (Or should I say Joe...) ;)

And of course the Toffifee...

Ned apparently has some sweet luck as well!

So first off I want to say Congratulations to the 3 winners! And I want to thank everyone for your comments and participation...I had fun! Like I said, I was quite surprised with the results. Only 3 people managed to snatch everything up! I guess it's just the luck of the draw!
I'm going to be honest here though, I'm slightly relieved I don't have to send anything out! (Especially to Scotland...no offense Lambie) ;).

Again thanks to everyone! Happy Holiday's & Merry Christmas!
I'm happy to be sharing some of my things with some of you!

Nani, I'll be seeing you tomorrow! :)
Ruth, I'll send your goodies with my parents as they'll be seeing you guys later on Christmas Day. :D
Ned, I'll see you Christmas Eve. ;)

Fare well for meow :)!

** Ruth and Janette and nieces of mine, just for those who were curious**

On things green and also things fuzzy

I forgot to put this up yesterday! It was a sweet little Kinder bar (same as the first day). I know you need to see this everyday. I'm just here to provide for you. ;)

And tonight I'll be opening this little guy! I foresee it being a little egg as that's all that would fit behind that door.

So here we are at Thursday...which means it's getting close to Friday (and the weekend and hopefully getting a bit better sleep in). Though a few things also need to get done, Christmas gift type things mainly...

How far are you on your Christmas shopping??

I don't know how to gauge how much I've gotten done. Maybe 50%? 60% perhaps? I don't know. All I know is I'm not done.

So look at my smoothie this morning. I always put spinach in my smoothie, but this one is legitimately a "green smoothie".
What's in it? Well, spinach (quite a bit), about half a cucumber, a slice of lime and the juice from one half, an apple (without seeds..though they'd probably just grind right in as well), some frozen grapes, some plain greek yogurt, and some almond milk.
Taste? Hmm... it mainly tastes like lime and cucumbers with a hint of sweetness. (Good thing I like cucumbers). Not bad, but not that great. (Ok, it's pretty bad...)
What did I learn? Little less spinach, less cucumber, little less lime and a little more fruit. I prefer my smoothie a little sweeter. But it was alright, I mean...it was my first time.
(PS, I do have a Vitamix which can handle blending all these crazy things up).
Love you Vitamix!

This morning, I quickly made the bed and turned on the light...

A sweet little George! He wasn't ready to get up yet either...
Jeez, he's getting big. But still cute.
I mean look at the 'little' guy... lately one of his favorite "toys" is one of those fake candles.

How he got it under a bag is beyond me...and why does he like it under a bag anyways??
It wasn't just coincidence either, he kept doing it!

You're a weirdo. But an adorable weirdo...
Now stop trying to get in the fridge.

And on to more Christmasy things!

So today is the 6th, where I'm supposed to talk about my favorite tree ornament. I don't know if you've been following the blog at all...but I, sadly, don't have a tree. But if you go here, you'll see that my friend Nani has a pretty awesome tree ;). My favorite ornament there, would definitely be the construction paper star OR the candy necklace!
However, if we look back in my past (when I used to live on the farm)...we used to have 2 Christmas trees.
One was upstairs that everyone would see...the perfect one with red bows, white lights and gold balls - it was beautiful. But my favorite tree was always the one in the basement...with its multi colored lights, random little ornaments such as stuffed animals and such, candy canes, popcorn - much more exciting ;).

And if we're talking 'in general' here...I love lights, tinsel, cool ornaments, candy canes - I love it all!

Do you have a favorite tree ornament?? In general? Or something on your tree right now?

That's it, that's all!

Ta ta for meow :)!

Responding...

Well hello again! It's not warm out, but the sun is out...which is always a nice thing (in my books anyways). ;)

So yesterday, I gave a quick update on what's been happening in my life and I mentioned Scott was back out at work.
For those of you who didn't know, Scott is my husband and he's a drilling supervisor for oil/natural gas rigs. Along with this job, he has to be gone for extended periods of time...but when he's back, he's off.

On yesterday's post, there was a comment that I figured I should address as I've never really talked about and some of you may be wondering about it as well.

Here's the comment...

I've always wondered, what kind of schedule is scott on? From what you described in this post it sounds like he's gone for two weeks at a time, am I right? How long is he home for? Joe's gone for two weeks and home for one. But with the driving time between here and grande prairie that takes two days off his time home, I hate it!

So Nani, You're pretty accurate in your guess ;). Scott is actually (technically) on a contract for two weeks on, two weeks off. (Correct me if I'm wrong, sweet thing...haha). However, it's not how it always is. Sometimes he's back for much longer (spring breakup) and sometimes he's gone for 3+ weeks. Basically, he needs to get a certain amount of days 'on' in a year to get his bonus at the end of the year. I don't remember how many days that is....but it's a lot. But yes, Scott generally has to drive to his destination as well...which adds time on there. (But luckily, lately he's been within a few hours of home).

It's definitely difficult and I miss him when he's gone...but I love when he's back (though it does take getting used to).

So, thanks for the question Nani. And miss and love you Scott ;)

Byeas for meow :)!

Happy Birthday to Me?(!)

Well hello there. It's my birthday. SURPRISE!

It's been a little bit because... well basically because I didn't feel like blogging/didn't have the time. :D

So this past weekend was a fun one :) It all began Friday night with sushi at Kinjo with Holly and Tyler (Scott's cousin and his cousin's wife - I've mentioned them before but I'm too lazy to go find where). And it was delish! I love Kinjo now :D (But I always get the same things...and I likely always will). Afterwards we headed over to Starbucks and Chapters for a hot beverage and a wander and to chat. Then it was back to our place for a bit for even more chatting. :D
Thanks Holly and Tyler, we'll have to do it again soon!
(Sorry you couldn't come up Nani...next time!)

Saturday was a nice relaxing day in the morning... and then in the evening it was my birthday fiesta! Benifred and Francesca came and we made tacos and commenced the beginning of the murder mystery Francesca had created. Basically, we were all different characters and we had to find who had murdered Senor Sanchez! Francesca gave us each clues that we were able to use to question each other.
It was really fun - thank you!
And we got a kitty cake :D
And Sunday was the Calgary Temple dedication. Which was also good...though our broadcast cut off part of the way through...

Last night, was dinner with Scott's family. Thanks everyone! Nice to see you all again :)!

Which brings us to my actual birthday today! The double deuce. Nothing too exciting...but it's nice to hear from everyone. Thanks for all the birthday greetings ;)

So here's 22 things...
A) you may not know about me
B) are on my mind
C) are birthday related.
So here goes!

1. I actually haven't had many birthday parties that weren't family related. When I was 18, I had a little gathering of friends and when I was 21...I had another. But when I was young, I don't even remember!
2. I don't really remember my birthday's when I was younger at all. Am I senile? Can you remember yours??
3. I really like ice cream cake. We still have a quarter of the DQ ice cream cake seen above :3
4. I never thought I'd be married before I was 22...not at all!
5. I have so many scratches on my hands from George, but I still love him.
6. I'm hungry. You should NOT be allowed to be hungry on your birthday dang it!
7. You should actually probably not have to work or do anything on your birthday at all.
8. I find it crazy that I've been living in Calgary for 2 years now. It seems like it's been much longer.
9. I also find it crazy how much my life has changed in the past 2 years! Especially the last year.
10. I miss the 2 sisters that used to live in Calgary... that was always fun.
11. I still get up early to work out even though I don't have to...I just prefer to get it done.
12. Yes I even worked out today.
13. Lambie asked me if I've seen results. Answer: No, because I still eat what I want most of the time.
14. I still don't know what to do with my life :<
15. I no longer have any living grandparents.
16. I still love spending time with family and friends.
17. I bet no one's still reading this list ;)
18. I really love Turtle Pecan Cluster blizzards. I bring this up not because I think about ice cream all the time (I do), but because I just got an email for buy one get one free blizzards from DQ :D
19. The last clothing related purchase I made was a Tower of Terror t-shirt from Disneyland and I haven't even worn it...
20. Other than that, I don't remember the last time I bought clothes. It's likely time to change that.
21. At least I can still fit into all the same clothes I guess? Or is that a bad thing?
22. I'm getting old. You can see when I smile how wrinkly I'm going to be (around my eyelets)! You chose this Scott!

So celebrate for me, and for goodness sakes...have some dang ice cream.

Toodles for meow :)!

Happy Birthday Nani!

Just in case I'm not able to get a regular post out today, I at least want to get this out.

(from google images)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANI! Double deuce for you!

Hope it's a great day and fantastic year - I'll catch up soon ;)

And Happy Birthday from George...

One picture where he looks like a "special" cat...
And one where he looks both adorable and ridiculous...
Honestly, he looked so weird how he was sitting. I'm glad I was able to get a picture quick before he moved :D

PS... you can find Nani here!

I have some good news for all of us!

Scott's back! :D

Maybe I'll have some other things to post about now, but maybe not. I'm happy for him to come back nonetheless :)

But for now, I still have my little cuddle bug to keep me company. Scott's jealous sometimes...
What an adorable little weirdo. I need another ;) ...or maybe just a Scott to stay around so I can keep my sanity and not become a crazy cat lady. Who am I kidding, It's too late...

Meow :)!

PS. Happy Birthday to my Mom yesterday, my Pop's (which was the 3rd), and a sister of mine (which was on the 24th). Love you all!

PPS. NANI IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY SOON :D

PPPS! TGIF!

Update

Well... Scott's been gone for about a week and a half and I miss him. A lot. But he'll be getting back in a few days...so I guess that's good.

I'm still sick so I wasn't able to go to soccer on Tuesday :( Boo.
I hope all this sickness goes away before the wedding.

I still need to figure out a few things before the wedding....shoes for myself and bridal party, hair for myself and bridal party, clothing for parts of the day, but things are finally starting to come together.

It was really nice to see W and Nani this past weekend. I've missed you guys. (And it's always nice to see Francesca as well...PS, thanks for agreeing to be part of the wedding party) :3

Happy Belated Father's Day! I considered posting on Sunday...but no. I was with family, and that takes priority yo.

PS. My dad is awesome...but I'm sure everyone thinks that ;) (about their own dad's...)

What's new with all of you? Hmm?

Ciao for meow :)!

Showers in all sense of the word

It's mid-June. The weather has been utter crap. For realz.

Rain, hail, winds, thunder, lightning, clouds. Garbage.
Will the sun come out tomorrow? (ok the sun is kind of out today)

But in another meaning, I had 2 bridal showers this past weekend (thus contributing to my lack of sleep). But they were really fun! Thanks to those who threw them for me...you both know who you are ;) (I would put up your names if you wanted me to).

And I'm sorry to tell you, but I actually have no pictures...from either! I was just enjoying the time.

But I will give a shout out to Nani, W, Francesca, and a bunch of my family and Scott's family for coming out. It was a good time :)

And another angle of showers, I've also taken multiple showers this past weekend? Which is pretty normal... but I guess you can bathe if you want to??

Showers for meow :)!

PS. Scott and I get married in 3 and a half weeks. AH!

PPS. Look at this intense shower...It's on sale for only 7,299.00!

PPPS. Did you know it's officially Summer? As of yesterday :o!

Merry Christmas!

So here we are! Finally to Christmas and I made it! I may or may not be needing a break from blogging now ;)

Anyways...the remainder of my Christmas Eve was pretty splendid, consisting of family, Chinese food, and Elf! (or passing out from exhaustion and excess food in the middle of Elf...)

Today was a big Christmas service at church which was nice...Nani and I got our singing in which went well!

Now Strongbad (fine fellow) and I are heading to Christmas on his end of the family :)

So I bid you Merry Christmas! Enjoy it!

Merry Christmas for meow :)!

My Christmas gift to myself is no random fact today :D

Keep eating food before it's too late! ;)

Hollow Santa's and so on

The 20th with 5 days til Christmas! (you can come just a bit sooner Christmas...please??)

On the 8th day of Christmas a Trudy gave to you, 8 hot cocoas, 7 mandarin oranges, 6 snuggly pillows, 5 kinder eggggggs, 4 awesome nut trays, 3 French toast, 2 candy canes and a nice, warm, fuzzy, toque :D

Speaking of kinder eggs...the advent calendar surprise of yesterday was a hollow Santa :3 I believe I get another one tomorrow, I'll take a picture! (I'm sure you don't care...but I do so yay!)

So tonight my roomie's mother is flying in from Montreal to stay with us for Christmas, which is fairly exciting. I haven't met her before but I'll let you know how it goes ;)

Yesterday I was originally going to go to FHE...(we were going to head to the nativity at heritage park) but well you see, I got home after 6 and just wasn't feeling it. So I worked out instead :D which was good as I'm a bit sore today - success! Anyways, I do enjoy the nativity and reminder of the season...but we'll definitely be going through that on Christmas Eve :)

I believe my fine fellow is coming back this evening and I am so excited :D it feels as though it's been so long and yes, looking forward to seeing you :)

Shout out to W, not sure if you read anymore, but if you do...send me a text to let me know ;) congrats on only having one semester of nursing to go!

Also a shout out to Nani, hope your semester is ending splendidly, thanks for being a loyal reader :D

But that's it for you today ;)

So long for meow :)!

RANDOM FACT ABOUT ME -- Some of you may or may not know, but I've been to England! (That's the furthest I've been). It was in grade 11 when I was in a girls choir ;) It was such a good time and some day I wish to return.

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Tuesday is closer to the weekend than Monday!

(Considering we can't exactly go back in time...)

This thought is seriously what's been getting me through the day. "Hey it's Tuesday! That's almost Wednesday and Wednesday is like the halfway point of the week, then before I know it...it'll be Friday :D". Sad...but hey, whatever works right?? ;3

So we finally get to crossover, and the halfway mark between The beginning of December and Christmas is here (or rather has passed...)! Day 13, with 12 days until Christmas. So technically this was supposed to be the start of the "12 days of Christmas" ;) So keep in mind that on the first day of Christmas a Trudy gave to you, a nice, warm, fuzzy toque! For a visual, look at my previous post ;)

I don't know...I haven't got a whole lot for ya today. Last night was FHE, Behind Sapphire did a free concert for everyone which was pretty good. It was interesting because the sound wasn't working how they wanted it to, so they switched to acoustic which was different, but they're always fun! I still haven't heard if they have a concert tonight, so...I...probably won't let you know, but just so you know...there might be one.

So it's definitely the Christmas season, and because I've been talking about them lately...I figured I should share Behind Sapphire's "Christmas Nigh" with you again. It's just a short song but it's happy and fun so :)

Has anyone else been listening to a ton of Christmas music?? I've probably heard enough to last everyone for Christmas ;) NEED MOAR! This one has always been amusing to me...so intense!

Anyways, carry on with your day. Oh! Nani, here I was thinking you were going to comment on my blog every day and you stopped after 2. It was tragic unto me. Good luck during exams though ;) Look forward to singing with you!

Byeas for meow :)!

RANDOM FACT ABOUT ME -- I don't recall if I've mentioned this or not...but one of my favorite fruits are pomegranates! And sadly, they aren't around all the time. I'm taking full advantage of their season right now ;) So delish~

PS. Update on the stye eye: It's shown signs of improvement and should heal up nicely (it better!). I wore my glasses again today, they hurt my eyes D:

Happy December!

So time has slipped away from me yet again and here we are in December. Craziness. Christmas will be here before we know it because the countdown is on! (24 days til Christmas)

I've decided I'm going to try to get on here everyday this month...I know it's quite the goal, but I'll try nonetheless! Go team Trudy! (where the heck did these little symbols come from??)

So I believe I told you last time...that I've finally upgraded to an iPhone! So my blog today is brought to you straight from her! It makes it a lot easier to show you pictures! And todays picture is perfectly suiting of December 1st! First off, advent calendar...hello! Second...kinder! Need I say more ;)

So what I've been up to lately is basically hanging out with my fellow (yes the same one, it's been 2 months now!). He's been home from work for the past 2 weeks which has been awesome...but sadly, he goes back to work this Sunday :(

Lambie, my sister, and her recent FIANCÉ(!) have just recently moved to Aberdeen, Scotland! So I've definitely been missing her...but I'm excited and happy that she's able to go on these adventures :)

Shutout to W and Nani...I haven't really been able to talk to you guys much, hope all is well!

And I believe that is all for today!

Byeas for meow :)!

RANDOM FACT ABOUT ME -- some of you may or may not know...I used to play an MMO (massively multiplayer online) and was totally addicted! This was a few years back...anyways, just something I thought I'd share ;)
